~Birthday Fun~ :)

This year, for my youngest brother's birthday, we decided to take a trip to the Science Museum!
Sooo...Saturday morning, we all loaded up and headed down the road! :)

Upon our arrival we paused for a quick picture in front of the Museum entrance. :)

Before going in, we went over to take a look at the rather large propeller that was displayed outside.

After meeting up with relatives, we ventured into the gift shop. Some interesting things we discovered there, were some magnetic balls which could be linked together to form a circle etc.

Next we moved on to check out these scales. One scale showed what you weigh on earth and the other showed what you would weigh on the moon!

There was also a mirror maze! The maze itself really wasn't that complex, but since all the "walls" were mirrors it made things quite interesting! :) If you weren't careful you could almost walk into a mirror!

Upstairs we saw a rocket...

...and part of a space shuttle! :)

There was also a three story tree house with a spiral slide and if you went all the way up to the top of the tree house, you could look out of a skylight in the roof of the building! It was pretty neat! ;)

We then viewed a "Science Live" show where a young man came out and did experiments (blew things up) on stage.

After the show we decided it was time to have lunch and cake. ;)

Following the meal, my brother opened his presents! :)

We then resumed our exploration by heading off to the train area! There was a large display of model trains as well as a real passenger car! We enjoyed walking beside the passenger car and peeking in the windows at the many little rooms...

...one of which was a dining room. :)

There were also a couple of segways to ride too!

Another part of the museum was called "Whodunit". In this area you were to get a newspaper that described three suspects, then you were to go into the diner to hear an audio recording that was supposed to be a conversation between the two gentlemen (in the right of the picture) discussing the crime. From the information you heard there, you were then to go into....

...this ally way and look for clues to determine who you thought the criminal was!

This was actually a bed of nails! (Don't worry, my brother said it didn't hurt!)

Here my brother looked through a periscope!

Here you could pump a marble all the way up to the ceiling and from there it would drop down and land on a round metal surface where the marble would fall though a hole in the center and then be pumped back up and dropped again! It was rather captivating to watch. ;)

There were SO many things at the Museum to see and do...this is just part of all that was there!

Later we went by a couple of stores including Bass Pro, here's a few pic's we took while there. :)

To conclude our outing, we stopped by Grandy's and enjoyed a meal before heading home! It was a full day but we all had a great time!

~Happy Homemaker Material~

Today I received this lovely piece of material from the Long ladies at www.mariemadelinestudio.com ! They recently hosted a giveaway to win a fat quarter and I was one of the twelve recipients! :)

The Long ladies let us choose which material we would get, so after Mom and I browsed their selection we finally decided on getting "Home Ec" in their "Fun Prints" collection. The fabric is a very nice quality and I really like the print! Now I just have to decide what to make out of it!

I am SO grateful the Lord blessed me with such a wonderful mother! I'm thankful for her love and devotion for our family, her sacrifice of laying down her own life to take time to teach, instruct, guide and invest in the lives of my brothers and me, for sharing with us wise counsel, and not only being our precious mother, but also being our special friend!

Mom, I love you SO much!!! What a tremendous treasure and blessing you are in my life!

I praise the Lord for gifting me with such a WONDERFUL mom!!!

~Delicious Blueberry Muffins~

Earlier this month I decided to make up some homemade blueberry muffins! ;) The recipe I tried was from the Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. The muffins turned out really well and I thought I would share the recipe with you, so here it is...enjoy! :)

~Blueberry Muffins~

Prep: 10 minutes Bake: 18 minutes

Oven: 400*F Makes: 12 muffins

1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour (I used 1 1/2 c. white flour and 1/4 c. wheat flour.)

1/3 c. sugar

2 tsp. baking powder

1/4 tsp. salt

1 beaten egg

3/4 c. milk

1/4 c. cooking oil

3/4 c. fresh or frozen blueberries

1. Grease twelve 2 1/2-inch muffin cups or line with paper bake cups; set aside.

2. In a medium bowl combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Make a well in center of flour mixture; set aside.

3. In another bowl combine egg, milk, and oil. Add egg mixture all at once to flour mixture. Stir just until moistened (batter should be lumpy). Fold in blueberries.

4. Spoon batter into prepared muffin cups, filling each two-thirds full. Bake in a 400* oven for 18 to 20 minutes or until golden and a wooden toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool in muffin cups on a wire rack for 5 minutes. Remove from muffin cups; serve warm.

~Blooms, Blossoms and Birdhouses~

We have had so many plants awaken this month, it's been such a joy to see the Lords handiwork! What a creative and artistic God we serve! :D

My younger brother collected these pretty wildflowers one afternoon...the orange ones are called "Indian Paintbrush".


My younger brothers also enjoyed painting birdhouses a while back!



They did a wonderful job on them and the birdhouses made a great addition to our spring decorations! :D


This lovely butterfly was pleased to perch on this bright, yellow dandelion! :)

One day we looked out the window and saw these beautiful geese just outside our back yard!


I am grateful for each season the Lord has blessed us with in both creation and also in our lives!

~Happy Resurrection Day!~

Hello all! I hope you had a very blessed Resurrection Day! (We certainly did!) :)

My brothers had fun decorating our windows for both spring and Resurrection Day!

My brothers also enjoyed creating beautiful cards! One of my brothers chose a flower theme and my other brother made some cards with hidden eggs on each page! They were both very creative and artistic in their designs! :)

On Saturday we went to my grandparents house! My Grandma so graciously blessed us with a home cooked meal (for dessert she made this cute rabbit cake!) and we had a great time catching up with relatives!

We then headed outside to hide eggs for my brothers and cousins to find. Here my cousins waited in eager anticipation! :)

And the hunt was on!

After all the eggs were found and treats were sorted, we decided to take a hike up to our house to show our cousins the new baby kittens!

When we went back to my grandparents house, my brothers and cousins put on a show with paper Bible characters (which my cousins created) as the story of Jesus' death and resurrection was read aloud. :)

When we returned home that eveing, we concluded the day by watching some of the film "Jesus of Nazareth". :)
On Sunday we were blessed to gather with friends and reflect on our Lord's resurrection, followed by a wonderful meal, and later we went to the park and played volleyball and Capture the Flag! SO much fun! :D

That evening, we decided to make our traditional Resurrection Day crescent rolls! We put a little butter, cinnamon, sugar and marshmallows inside the crescent rolls, then after they are baked, and the marshmallows have melted, you can take a bite and the crescent rolls are hollow, like an empty tomb!

May we all continue to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus!

~Celebrating 26 Years of Marriage!~

This month my dear parents celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary!!! :D :D :D




To mark the special occasion, we prepared a delicious dinner!

Here I was making small cherry cheese cakes...a rare and special treat! :)











Time to put the cheese cakes in the refrigerator to set up. :)



My brothers and I had a delightful time decorating the table... :)


... we enjoyed our meal by candle light! ;)

Later one of my brothers requested that Mom get her wedding dress out. So...one thing led to another and soon both Mom and Dad were all dressed up! It was really sweet. :) We pulled out our ball room music CD and Mom and Dad waltzed the evening away! :)

I am SO thankful for my parents and for the Lord being at work in their lives!
